I started my career with the BBC in Scotland and then Bristol where I honed my skills filming documentaries. After moving to Los Angeles I continued shooting documentaries. I also filmed a number of successful indie movies, music videos and commercials, before returning to my roots and focusing on premium factual television. Given my background, I am equally adept at shooting observational documentaries and crafting beautifully lit, story driven sequences and interviews.
This expertise allows me to bring a cinematic feel to my work. I love filming sensitive and intelligent stories and enjoy pairing my shooting skills with distinctive story telling that has a popular touch. My goal is to collaborate with directors and producers to make extraordinary television.
In addition to my work as a director of photography, I am also the owner of Maclir Inc., a boutique camera rental company. We have an extensive collection of high end optics and digital cinema cameras. I like to work with productions to bring this top of the line gear to realize the desired visuals for each unique project. I love making films!
